Crocidosema plebejana Zeller, 1847

Wingspan: 11-17mm

A bivoltine species flying from July to late September early October although in exceptional years this can be extended, the latest recorded at Las Descargues being 9 December 2009. A species of various shrubs and maize. Taken from all the plateau habitats where maize is a commonly grown crop.

The larva feeds on Lavatera, Crataegus, Hibiscus, Zea mays before pupation takes place in a thin cocoon in plant detritus.
