Pyralis farinalis (Linnaeus, 1758)

Meal Moth

Wingspan: 22-30mm

A univoltine species flying from April to September, it is an occasional visitor to light but is most commonly found on the internal walls of barns and outbuildings where grain has been stored. Individuals still appear on the walls of one of our barns that has been renovated and used for human habitation for the past ten years.

Larvae feed on stored grain.
