Agonopterix purpurea (Haworth, 1811)

Wingspan: 11-15mm

One of the smallest Agonopterix, a univoltine species on the wing from August to June flying after hibernation in sunshine although this specimen was taken in the kitchen at Las Descargues during the evening of the 13 March with a temperature of -8C outside. A species of dry, grassy habitats.

The larva feeds on Daucus carota, Chaerophyllum temulum, Anthriscus sylvestris etc. Pupation takes place in plant detritus in July.
