Aglossa pinguinalis (Linnaeus, 1758)

Large Tabby

Wingspan: 18-42mm

A highly variable species both in size and colour, it is on the wing from April to September and is a regular visitor to light. A species of old barns, stables and outhouses where it can be found roosting in dark corners.

Larvae feed on stored food and animal and vegetable detritus.
