Coleophora saxicolella (Duponchel, 1843)

Wingspan: 13-16mm

A univoltine species on the wing from July to September when it is a frequent visitor to the lights at Las Descargues. A species of disturbed land, field margins and unmanaged pasture of the plateau.

Eggs are laid on Chenopodium, Atriplex spp., larvae fed on the seeds, initially internally then from a silken case. The larva overwinters outside the case with pupation taking place in spring on the ground.
