Zygaena ephialtes (Linnaeus, 1767)

Wingspan: 31-41mm

A mainly univoltine species although bivoltinism is known. On the wing from June to September a species of damp, poor grassland, woodland margins, clearings and rocky, scrub habitats. Only recorded from Catus to date although it must occur elsewhere.

Larva feeds on Fabaceae, Coronilla varia, C. emerus. Pupation takes place on grass stems.
