Zygaena lonicerae (Scheven, 1777)

Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnet

Wingspan: 32-41mm

A univoltine species flying from June to August when it can be netted as a diurnal moth throughout the calcareous Causse. It has, however, also been recorded twice at light on the Causse.

Larvae feed on clovers, vetchling and bird's-foot-trefoil before overwintering as larvae with pupation taking place in a cocoon high on the stem of the foodplant.
