Siona lineata (Scopoli, 1763)

Black-veined Moth
Sionie lignes

Wingspan: 35-45mm

A univoltine species on the wing from May to July, although attracted to light it has never been recorded at the lights of Las Descargues but is often flushed during the day or found roosting. A species of herb-rich chalk meadows.

Larvae feed on various low-growing herbs overwintering as partially grown larvae before completing feeding in spring and pupating in a cocoon on the foodplant or on grasses.
