Bucculatrix demaryella (Duponchel, 1838)

Wingspan: 8-9mm

A univoltine species on the wing from late May to early July. A scarce moth at light and recorded infrequently at Las Descargues. A species of open birch woodland and other plateau woodlands where sweet chestnut and hazel are present.

Larvae feed on Betula, Corylus and Castanea sativa before pupating in a cocoon amongst plant detritus.
