Ptilophora plumigera ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan: 32-40mm

A univoltine species on the wing from October to December, yet to be recorded at Las Descargues but the specimen illustrated is not uncommon at lower levels in the Lot. A species of woodland, scrub and hedgerows on calcareous substrates.

Larvae feed on Acer campestre, A. pseudoplatanus, Betula and Salix species with pupation taking place overwinter in detritus beneath the foodplant.
