Acronicta auricoma ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Scarce Dagger
La Chevelure dorée

Wingspan: 32-36mm

A bivoltine species on the wing from April to September. A scarce species at Las Descargues but one found more commonly on the Causse. A species of oak and mixed woodland, scrub and the stunted woods of the Causse.

Larvae feed on Quercus, Betula, Salix, Myrica etc. overwinters as a pupa on the foodplant or beneath it in detritus.
