Malacosoma neustria (Linnaeus, 1758)

La Livrée des arbres

Wingspan: male 25-35mm female 30-40mm

A univoltine species on the wing from June to September when it is attracted to light and has been recorded often abundantly from woodland, gardens and woodland margins.

Larvae feed on various broadleaved trees and shrubs. The species overwinters as an egg before communal larval feeding commences in the spring in webs. Pupation takes place in tough yellow cocoons in plant detritus or affixed low on the stems of the foodplant.
