Phyllonorycter corylifoliella (Hübner, 1796)

Wingspan: 8-9mm

A bivoltine species with the adult moth flying in May and June and again from August to early September. A species of woodland margins, hedgerows and gardens with fruit trees. The adult moth is yet to be recorded at any of the trap sites despite mines being quite common.

Eggs are laid on the upperside of leaves of Crataegus, Malus, Pyrus, Sorbus and Betula spp. Mines are formed with a pale central target patch caused through one mine being produced within another.
