Ectoedemia atricollis (Stainton, 1857)

Wingspan: 5-6mm

A univoltine species with adults on the wing in June and early July. Only recorded as a mine at Las Descargues, a species of hedgerows, scrub and gardens where the foodplants are found.

Eggs are laid on the underside of leaves of Crataegus, Prunus, Pyrus or Malus spp. Feeding takes place initially in a gallery later forming a blotch mine. It is possible that the larva hibernates in the soil before forming a cocoon in early spring.
