Locust Digitate Leafminer

Wingspan: 5-6mm

A North American species first introduced into Italy in 1970 from where it has spread as a pest species to much of mainland Europe. Infestation by the species can cause early leaf-drop, often as early as mid-summer. A bivoltine or even trivoltine species on the wing from May to October. Adults have been recorded at mv lights at Las Descargues but only in August.

Larvae feed on Robinia pseudoacacia. Eggs are laid in a fork between the midrib and a lateral vein and the pale blotch mine is always produced over the midrib.
