Heterogenea asella ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan: 10-22mm

A Eurasian univoltine species on the wing from June to August when it is an occasional visitor to the lights at Las Descargues but is less common on the Causse. A species of broadleaved woodland, scrub and hedgerows wherever the various foodplants are found.

Larvae feed on Quercus, Carpinus, Fagus etc., overwintering as fully grown larvae in twig-borne gall-like cocoons.
