Cucullia chamomillae ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan: 38-48mm

A univoltine species on the wing from March to June. Unrecorded from Las Descargues but a single record of a larva has been noted at Pierre Martine on the Causse. A species of calcareous habitats in open grassy meadows, unmanaged grassland, field margins and verges.

Larvae feed on Matricaria, Anthemis, Calendula and Tanacetum vulgare. overwintering for one or two winters in a strong cocoon underground.
