Stigmella floslactella (Haworth, 1828)

Wingspan: 5-6mm

A bivoltine species on the wing in May and again throughout August.

Eggs are laid on the underside of the Corylus avelland and Carpinus betulus leaves. Larvae feed initially within a narrow frass-filled mine with later frass deposits left in arcs within a sinuous wide gallery. Larvae can be found in June and July and again more abundantly in September and October.
