Phyllonorycter scabiosella (Douglas, 1852)

Wingspan: 6.5-8.5mm

A bivoltine species on the wing in May and again from late-July to the end of September when it is a very scarce visitor to the lights at Las Descargues and the rough meadows of the Plateau where its foodplant is found.

Eggs are laid on the underside of Scabiosa columbaria leaves, the larvae feed within a large, much folded mine that can occupy the majority of a leaf.
