Wood Tiger
L'╔caille du plantain

Wingspan: 30-39mm

A univoltine predominately diurnal species on the wing from May to August. A scarce visitor to the Plateau, which is probably too dry and not yet recorded from the Causse although specimens may have been overlooked despite the bright colouration. A species in this area of damp river meadows along the Bave Valley.

Larvae feed on a variety of herbaceous plants Plantago, Rumex, Taraxacum etc. Overwinters in the larval stage with pupation taking place in the spring.
