Stigmella tiliae (Frey, 1856)

Wingspan: 4.5-6mm

A bivoltine species flying in May and June and again throughout August. Adults are yet to be recorded at Las Descargues although mines are recorded on the leaves of the foodplant in the area.

Eggs are laid on the underside of leaves of both Tilia cordata and T. platyphyllos with larvae forming complex galleries which start on the underside of the leaf but eventually populate the entire thickness.
