Synanthadon vespiformis (Linnaeus, 1761)

Wingspan: 16-27mm

A bivoltine species on the wing from May to October with specimens only taken in pheromone traps although one or two individuals have been removed from the swimming pool. A species of woodland rides and clearings, gardens and riverine habitats.

Larvae feed under the bark for as much as two years of Quercus, Populus, Salix, Prunus, Castanea sativa, Ulmus and Fagus sylvatica. Pupations takes place beneath the bark of the foodplant in a cocoon.
