Amphipoea fucosa (Freyer,, 1830)

Saltern Ear

Wingspan: 28-32mm

A univoltine species on the wing from July to October when it infrequently visits the lights at Las Descargues. A species of the south-east and south of France reliably separated from others of the same genus through examination of the genitalia.

Larvae feed on the stems and roots of various grasses, Calamagrostis, Dactylis etc., with pupation taking place below ground.
