Pempelia palumbella ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan: 22-28mm

A bivoltine species on the wing from April to August when it is a frequent visitor to light being one of the crepuscular species it is often taken early. It has been recorded from all sites where heathers are found but it does wander and can be seen well away from that habitat.

Larvae feed on Calluna, Erica, Thymus and milkwort Polygala spp. Pupation takes place in a white cocoon in the soil.
