Hypena rostralis (Linnaeus, 1758)

Buttoned Snout
Le Toupet

Wingspan: 28-33mm

Imago: bivoltine and possible trivoltine species - March to October. Attracted to light and often recorded from outbuildings, barns and even human habitation. It has been recorded only from Las Descargues and woodland margins on the ridge.

Larvae: feed on hops, overwintering as adults in buildings and caves, pupation takes place under a leaf of the foodplant.
