Plusia festucae (Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan: 35-40mm

Imago: bivoltine - May to September when it is attracted to light and has been trapped at all heathland sites. A species normally associated with damp habitats but here at Las Descargues we are 300m above the nearest stream or wet grassland.

Larvae: feed on various grasses, sedges, iris, willow and nettle. Pupates in a cocoon held vertically between stems or leaves of the foodplant.
