Acronicta leporina (Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan: 38-43mm

Imago: bivoltine - May through to the end of August when it is a frequent visitor to light and has been recorded from all sites where broadleaved woodland, heathland and unmanaged grassland are found.

Larvae: feed on various trees and shrubs, birch, oak, poplar, aspen and sallows. Overwinters as a pupa occasionally spending a second winter in that stage.
