Arctia villica (Linnaeus, 1758)

Cream-spot Tiger

Wingspan: male 42-55mm female 50-60mm

A univoltine species flying from April to July. Both sexes are common at light and have been recorded from all woodland sites and unmanaged grassland.

The larvae are polyphagous on herbaceous plants before overwintering as larvae. Can be found feeding during mild spells throughout the winter.
