Callimorpha dominula (Linnaeus, 1758)

Scarlet Tiger

Wingspan: 42-55mm

Imago: univoltine - June to August. Flies freely on warm afternoons but also comes occasionally to light, the species inhabits woodland margins, wet meadows and riverbanks and has been recorded from all sites where those habitats are found.

Larvae: feed on various herbaceous plants and woody perennials before overwintering as larvae.
