Wingspan: 36-42mm

Imago: univoltine - March - April. Another species with a flightless female that can be found on oak trunks whilst the male will occasionally visit light but is more often encountered sitting on nearby vegetation. A species of woodland, heathland and gardens.

Larva: feeds on various trees and shrubs, birch, oak,elm, hawthorn etc., before overwintering a a pupa.
