Achlya flavicornis (Linnaeus, 1758)

Yellow Horned
La Flavicorne

Wingspan: 35-40mm

A univoltine species flying from March to May when it is an occasional visitor to light and has been recorded from all sites where woodland and heathland occur. The species favours birch woodland and is therefore more commonly recorded in or near the birch woods of Las Descargues than other sites.

Larvae are Betula feeders before overwintering as pupae in thin cocoons amongst leaf detritus at the base of the foodplant.
