Orgyia antiqua (Linnaeus, 1758)

Le Bombyx antique

Wingspan: 35-38mm

A bivoltine species with, exceptionally a third generation in suitable conditions - May-November. Never a common species but the male is occasionally seen at light and is recorded from traps in or near deciduous woodland. The female is wingless.

Larva feeds on various deciduous trees and shrubs. Overwinters as an egg.
