Sabra harpagula (Esper, 1786)

Wingspan: male - 25-40mm female - 33-41mm

A bivoltine species on the wing in May and June and again from July to September when it is an infrequent visitor to light. It has been recorded from all woodland and woodland margin sites but is rarer at low altitudes.

Larvae feed on various broadleaved trees, Tilia, Betula, Quercus and Alnus. Overwinters as pupae in curled leaves.
