Xestia c-nigrum (Linnaeus, 1758)

Setaceous Hebrew Character
Le C noir

Wingspan: 35-45mm

A trivoltine species flying from April to November. A frequent visitor to light and sugar it has been recorded from almost all habitats and therefore sites. A species of upland and lowland associated with woodland, heathland, wetland and cultivated ground.

The larva is polyphagous on herbaceous plants. Overwinters as a larva before pupating underground.
