Xestia stigmatica (Esper, 1790)

Square-spotted Clay
La Noctuelle rhomboide

Wingspan: 37-44mm

A univoltine species on the wing from June to September. An occasional visitor to sugar and light it has been recorded from the broadleaved woodland of the ridge and gorge.

The larva is polyphagous on herbaceous plants. Overwinters as an early instar larva before pupating underground.
