Hadena perplexa ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

La Noctuelle carpophage

Wingspan: 27-36mm

A univoltine species flying from April to July. Comes freely to light but not sugar and has been recorded from unmanaged grassland on calcareous soils at Las Descargues and the Causse.

The larva feeds on Silene, Dianthus and Lychnis spp., before overwintering as a pupa underground.
