Poecilocampa populi (Linnaeus, 1758)

Le Bombyx du peuplier

Wingspan: 33-46mm

Imago: univoltine - September-December. The species is strongly attracted to light and has been recorded from all woodland sites, woodland margins, scrub and gardens.

Larva: feeds on various trees and shrubs, overwinters as an egg with pupation taking place in a crevice in bark of the foodplant or in plant detritus on the ground.
