Wingspan: 22-27mm

A univoltine species on the wing from February to May. A common spring visitor to light it has been recorded from all broadleaved woodland sites where oak is the dominant species and from all the Las Descargues traps.

The larva feeds on the calyx of berries of hawthorn and the leaves of pedunculate oak before overwintering as a pupa.
