Mamestra brassicae (Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan: 34-50mm

Imago: bivoltine with a possible third generation - April-July ; August-September (October). A regular visitor to light and sugar it has been recorded from a variety of habitats. It is taken more frequently in the Causse than in the uplands around Las Descargues.

Larva: feeds on brassicas where it can be a pest species, overwinters as a pupa underground.
