Small Quaker
L'Orthosie farineuse

Wingspan: 28-32mm

A univoltine species flying from January to the middle of June. Often the earliest and by far the most abundant of this genus. In April 2006 over 4,000 were recorded from a single trap in one month at Las Descargues. A frequent visitor to light and sugar. A species favouring broadleaved woodland, heathland and gardens.

The larva feeds on various tree and shrub species overwintering as a pupa underground.
