Selenia lunularia (Hübner, 1788)

Lunar Thorn
L'Ennomos lunaire

Wingspan: 33-46mm

Imago: A bivoltine species flying from April to June and again in August and September. It is a frequent visitor to light and has been recorded from all sites with associated woodland or scrub.

Larva: Feeds onFagus sylvatica, Prunus spinosa, Tilia and Vaccinium spp. before overwintering as a pupa just below ground.
