Conistra erythrocephala ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Red-headed Chestnut

Wingspan: 32-42mm

Imago: A univoltine species on the wing from October to May when it is strongly attracted to light and has been recorded from all woodland and scrub habitats including all the Las Descargues traps.

Larva: Feeds on Fraxinus, Quercus, Fagus sylvatica, Salix, Prunus, Ulmus, Taraxacum etc. Pupation does not take place until late summer underground.
