Phyllonorycter messaniella (Zeller, 1846)

Wingspan: 7-10mm

Imago: A plurivoltine species on the wing from late April to November when it is occasionally attracted to light and has been recorded from the Las Descargues traps and those situated in or near oak woodland.

Larva: Mines the leaves of Quercus ilex spp. and occasionally other oak species although the eggs can be found on Quercus ilex, Quercus spp., Betula, Carpinus betulus, Castanea sativa and Fagus sylvatica.
