Caloptilia alchimiella (Scopoli, 1763)

Wingspan: 10-13mm

A bivoltine species flying from mid-April to July and again in August. It is attracted to light and has been recorded from all woodland sites and Las Descargues.

The larva is found on oak Quercus spp., the mine is at first narrow and thready but eventually forms a square blotch initially on the underside of the leaf but showing on the upper side once full feeding takes place.
