Noctua janthina ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Langmaid's Yellow Underwing
Le Casque

Wingspan: 34-39mm

Imago: Univoltine, flying from June to October with a period of aestivation during the hottest summer months. Often recorded two to three weeks earlier than janthe its confusion species. It is attracted to light and has been recorded at Las Descargues and on the Causse where it can be even earlier than the home site.

Larva: Polyphagous on various herbaceous plants feeding between August and May.
