Le Hibou

Wingspan: 36-44mm

Imago: Univoltine, flying from April to November with a summer diapause to avoid the heat of the months of July and August. It is attracted to light and sugar and in the right conditions can produce huge numbers in Robinson traps with several thousand recorded. It is a very common moth at Las Descargues and almost all other Lot sites and habitats.

Larva: Polyphagous on herbaceous plants and grasses, overwinters as a larva underground before pupating there in early spring.
