Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner, 1796)

European Corn-borer

Wingspan: 29-37mm

Imago: A variable bivoltine or even trivoltine species flying from May to early October when it is attracted to light and has been recorded from Las Descargues and most other sites in the area.

Larva: Bores into the stem of Artemisia vulgaris where it overwinters before pupating in the spring. It is a serious pest of Zea mays and has been found on hops, hemp and mallow.
