Catoptria pinella (Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan: 18-26mm

A bivoltine species, flying from May to September when it is strongly attracted to light. It has been recorded at Las Descargues but is more abundant from traps placed in or near the coniferous plantations of the area.

The larva feeds on Deschampsia cespitosa, Eriophorum vaginatum and mosses before pupating in plant detritus.
