Mesapamea secalis (Linnaeus, 1758)

Common Rustic

Wingspan: 28-34mm

Imago: Univoltine, on the wing from July to September. It is a frequent visitor to light and has been recorded from Las Descargues and all calcareous grassland habitats, farmland and woodland in the area.

Larva: Feeds on a variety of grass stems throughout the winter before pupating in spring below ground.
