Catarhoe cuculata (Hufnagel, 1767)

Royal Mantle
La Cidarie sinuée

Wingspan: 26-30mm

A bivoltine species on the wing from May to the end of August. It is an infrequent visitor to the Las Descargues traps and only occasionally seen at any of the other sites where traps are set. A species of calcareous grassland yet still unusual on the Causse.

The larva feeds on Galium spp. before overwintering as a pupa under plant detritus.
